Alone in the Universe?

The idea of this is terrifying. Are we really destroying the only planet that is inhabited with sentient beings? A planet so amazing that it takes my breath away? I believe that everything is sentient, but then again I have differing opinions about most things. What are the odds of being alone in the universe? Seriously — we don’t even know how big the universe is, and we have recently discovered that it’s expanding. I find it highly unlikely that there are no other conscious beings. Considering the idiocy happening on Earth these days, they have to be far wiser than we are. I think they came to help us back when we were building things like the pyramids. And when we refused to evolve, they gave up on us. Can’t imagine why, (she adds, sarcastically).

I was reading this morning about the indigenous Dogon tribe in the central plateau region of Mali. They have been living in the same area since 300 B.C. It was discovered that they have a precise astronomical knowledge of the Sirius star system despite no telescopes or other means of study. They live in primitive ways, cultivating crops, trading.

This fascinates me and it also seems connected with the Mayan ceremonial 260 day calendar, the same number of days it took for a planet orbiting Sirius to go around one time. Gobekli Tepe, the oldest temple in Turkey is aligned with the rising of Sirius, the dog star. The Hopi’s have beliefs that resonate with these findings as well as end of the world prophecies.

If you haven’t seen it already, Ancient Apocalypse is a fascinating series. It at least takes us out of our day-to-day worries. I highly recommend it. We are not alone. But will they save us before we destroy ourselves? (tongue in cheek but…who knows?) Are we worth saving is the real question.
