Living in an Alternate Reality

Someone recently said, ‘It’s like we’re living in an episode of the Simpsons.’ I didn’t watch many Simpson’s episodes but I get the reference. Frankly I think what’s happening in the United States is way worse than that. We have brought our country down to the lowest common denominator. We have a man unfit for office in the Presidency and the men and women supporting him in the Senate have allowed him to make a mockery of everything we used to stand for. He is at this moment sending unmarked cars to Portland, Oregon filled with federal agents to literally scoop up protesters. The excuse is they are destroying Federal property. Trouble is, just like so many other lies, this just isn’t true.

I know there have been a zillion articles written about the travesties this man has managed in the name of power, his love of despots, his total disregard of the law and the constitution and just plain simple decency, but I had to weigh in once again. This latest debacle in Portland made me realize just how dangerous this man really is. There are no checks on him. And if we don’t take back the Senate majority we will have another stalemate like the one we’ve had since Obama.

It’s kind of odd, but because I see Trump as a narcissist and a very sick individual, I feel less antipathy toward him than I do when it comes to the Republican held Senate. McConnell has held up nearly 300…
