LOL--I am also of this generation--and my kids were also without seatbelts--my 5 year old daughter opened the door of our VW bus when I was hurtling down the highway at 60...when she was tiny she rode in one of those baby seats that were all the rage down on the floor under the passenger dash. My kids climbed from the back seat to the front and back again all the time--like monkeys...I spent my childhood roaming building sites or out in the woods.
