Peace

What is peace? These are a few of the things I’ve come to associate with the concept and what it takes to have it in my life.

I am a political junkie, so listening to news, reading news has been an obsession — especially with the heightened political climate right now. But why do I need to read? Why do I need to know on a daily basis what other horrible thing is being done or said? All it does is upset me and make me angry and afraid. I am lucky enough that whatever happens I will not be personally impacted. But I do feel responsible for what I hope for the environment, the poor, the immigrants and the animals — for all of us who want to live in a country that is free and cares about the future and the people and the world around us. I have grandchildren and I want to know that their lives will be okay and that global warming will be taken seriously.

And these are the things that keep me awake at night.

But then there is the wider picture. The astrologers and the spiritual teachers are saying that this time we are in is “the grand adventure we have all been waiting for”. According to this perspective we are reaching a higher level of consciousness and stepping out of duality. The old is falling apart. Puny politics falls by the wayside when you look at life in this way. And yet you can see it if you look closely at what’s happening in this country. The old wants to hang on tooth…

In my real life I’m a fantasy/mystery author. What I’ve written so far on Medium have been political opinion pieces. But that is changing!
