What has been happening at the Supreme Court needs to be shouted to the rooftops…maybe if people see the horrifying repercussions of these decisions they may begin to wake up! The one I’m most concerned about is the overturning of the Chevron Deference. This was put into place in 1984 as a way to give experts in the field a way to regulate our food, drugs, air, water, the EPA and many more so that Congress didn’t have to wade into things they didn’t fully understand. Now this has been overturned.

What this means is regulations keeping people safe in the workplace, keeping wages fair, keeping our food, water and air free of deadly chemicals, dealing with health care and medicare and medicaid, and the environmental protection agency, will be left to Congress and the courts — can anyone visualize congress being able to decide these issues in a timely manner? Or at all?? And now it will be lawyers who make final decisions. Does anyone trust lawyers to do the right thing????

What I’ve heard so far is that there will soon be a rash of litigation that will overturn safety laws across this country, leaving things wide open for polluters and those who could care less about anyone but themselves. It will substantially widen the wealth divide between us and them and create an unsafe country with little to no recourse for those of us who don’t have a couple of million dollars to throw around.
