The ART of fundraising

Fundraising has become the main objective of both political parties. Instead of doing the peoples business they count on the people being upset by one thing or another. What’s the point of fixing things if not fixing it brings in money? What the supreme court did with Citizens United is unconscionable. It has turned everything upside down and opened the floodgates to dark money from everywhere coming into our elections. Untraceable — could be from Russia and probably is.

My email account is filled to the brim with pleas from candidates from everywhere. I think it should be illegal to get money from those who do not live in your state — and yet as I write this I realize that dems in red states are sol unless they do! Some of the messages I get from dems are shaming — we TOLD you about blank, we BEGGED you to blank…UGH! I write back and tell them to change their tactics. What is the answer? If candidates have to constantly fundraise, when is there time for anything else? And as I said, these issues going unsolved is much better for the ones running. Abortion rights, voting rights, police brutality, guns in the hands of felons and everyone else — the border — these are hot button issues that bring in the bucks.

Until this changes I see no point in wasting my money. If a candidate in my state or one I really believe in needs my help, I will consider it, but mostly I now give to…
