The politics of control
When did women’s reproductive decisions become the purview of the Republican party? It’s been used in the political discussion for years now. It does NOT belong there. A personal decision like that should be between a woman and her doctor. PERIOD. All of this was eliminated years ago with a hard fought decision that still exists. But not for long, if the Republicans get their way. The populace as a whole has no say in these decisions made by old white men in back rooms. And they’ve been at the whittling for a long time. Over one half of the country wants the right to choose. But who cares about that?
This latest outrageous assault on women’s rights has me reeling. I was around for the first one, and let me tell you, it was not a pretty picture before we had Roe. But this isn’t about abortion or no abortion, it’s about men controlling women. Every single politician who voted for this would get a waiver for their daughter, or their wife in a heartbeat, no pun intended. And having the supreme court do nothing about the chipping away of a law we’ve had since 1973, is very disheartening. And tattling on your neighbor, or your acquaintance for money? UGH. Divide and conquer seems to be the name of the game these days. We are more divided as a country than we’ve ever been and now we will be pitting friend against friend until there’s no one you can trust.
