We were never meant to be a real democracy--we started out with landowners, men, deciding everything. And now what we really are is exposed for all to see. But I beg to differ when it comes to the havoc wreaked by this administration. Maybe Trump is not responsible for the state we're in, but he certainly has done nothing to help. And it is Trump and the Republican senate who have decided that the poor in this country don't need the government's help. This is capitalism--the idea that you can lift yourself up by your own bootstraps and become rich just like those at the top. That if you support a person like Trump you will become him and have money and fame. In itself this system could work, but not when it's runaway capitalism that cares nothing for anyone, only about the bottom line. When money becomes god then the country is finished. And that is where we are. IMO it will take a revolution or a civil war to bring any real change here--when you have jails for profit, schools for profit, hospitals for profit, you are no longer working for the people--you're working for yourselves. Yes, Biden is a stop gap, but I'd much rather have someone pay attention to climate change and help those who've been disenfranchised then go on with what we have...
