Where are we going?
With the recent Supreme Court decisions and the inability to rein in their unethical behavior, the future does not look good for the United States.
They have opened the door to a faction that is bent on destroying anything that does not fit with their extreme ideals. Women have lost the right to decide what they want for their own bodies. The recent cases have taken away protections for minorities such as LGBTQ, blacks, Hispanics, Asians and others who have been marginalized. Colleges and universities have now been barred from considering race when they are looking at college applications. Affirmative action is one reason why Clarence Thomas is where he is today — but he was instrumental in keeping others from getting the help that he did.
States are fast making sure that minorities will have a much harder time to cast a vote. Republicans are talking about getting rid of all social safety nets. Will they succeed? I would have said no two years ago, but now? Not so sure. There are no laws to prevent the spread of misinformation, aka lies, on social media and Fox news. Suits are being brought against the drug companies and others who have done irrevocable harm to people in this country, but when they settle the public is not informed — in other words, they are so wealthy that they pay their way out of it and keep going.
